Volatility continues to rule the roost. The Sensex, which, touched a high of 19,628 in morning trades, dropped to a low of 19,366 - down 262 points from the day's high. The index, however, has recouped all its loses and is back in the positive territory. The Sensex is now up 55 points at 19,515.
The NSE Nifty too has rebounded, and is up three points at 5869.
The smallcap and midcap indexes are down 1% each.
Among the BSE sectoral indices, IT index has advanced 2%. It is followed by Health Care index up 0.2%. All the other indices have slipped into the red. Realty, down 4% continues to languish
at the bottom of the chart.
The Asian markets continue to trade in the green. Hang Seng up 0.1% has pared some of its gains but Nikkei is up 0.5%. The Shanghai Composite, Jakarta Composite, Taiwan Weighted and Straits Times
are up 0.6-1% each.
The major gainers on the Sensex are Infosys, TCS, Bharti Airtel up 2% followed by Wipro, HDFC, HDFC Bank - up 1% each.
On the losers chart - Jaiprakash Associates down 3%. DLF, Reliance Infrastructure and Maruti Suzuki are down 2% each.
