<b>Volatility sets in...</b> Sensex up 97pts

A heavy bout of selling saw the Sensex wipe-out its entire gains and slip into red to a low of 14,241. The index, however, has bounced back into the positive zone and is now up 97 points at 14,345.

HDFC has soared nearly 3% to Rs 1,955. ACC, Ambuja Cements and Larsen & Toubro have surged around 2.5% each to Rs 976, Rs 134 and Rs 2,440, respectively.

Grasim  has gained 2% at Rs 2,780, and Hindalco has added 1.7% to Rs 141.

Infosys has advanced 1.5% to Rs 1,816. Bharti Airtel, ITC and Mahindra & Mahindra are up over 1% each at Rs 858, Rs 160 and Rs 637, respectively.

HDFC Bank and Cipla have dropped nearly 2% each to Rs 1,099 and Rs 173, respectively.

ICICI Bank is down nearly 1% at Rs 839.

Out of 2,518 stocks traded so far, 1,525 have advanced, 942 have declined and 51 are unchanged.
