Nifty futures continued to trade at a premium to the underlying spot index. Nifty January futures rose 37.00 points to close at 1925.30 while the NSE S&P CNX Nifty closed at 1912.25. Open interest in Nifty January futures rose 1,28,600 to 74.22 lakh.
Meanwhile, the turnover on National Stock Exchange's futures and option segment further declined to Rs 11,051.14 crore from Rs 12,229.55 crore on Wednesday. The cumulative FII's positions as percentage of total gross market position in the derivatives segment on Wednesday stood at 19.25 per cent.
In Nifty options, calls dominated the trading. Nifty January 1900 call was most active with 1207 contracts traded. The call traded at Rs 60.50. Among other strike January call of 1890 and 1860 were also actively traded. In puts, January 1890 strike was in action.
