Index futures recorded a turnover of Rs 2,759 crore with open interest at 1.3 crore shares, while individual stock futures registered a turnover of Rs 6,390 crore with open interest at 32.70 crore shares. |
Meanwhile, in the futures segment, the most actively traded futures were those of Tata Steel, Tata Motors, State Bank of India and Maruti among others. |
The Nifty futures premium to the spot Nifty is also seen increasing steadily. The February Nifty futures closed at 2079.65, a premium of nearly 10 points to the spot Nifty closing value of 2070 at the end of the day. There was also an addition of one lakh shares in the open interest of Nifty futures. |
The Nifty put-call ratio also went up to 1.03 from 1.01 with nearly one lakh shares being added to calls while ther was an addition of two lakh shares to puts. |
Futures contracts, which saw a their open interest going down were those of Tata Tea, HPCL, Oriental Bank of Commerce, Satyam and Dr Reddy's among others, while there was a build-up of positions in Tata Power, Maruti, Hero Honda, Ranbaxy and BPCL among others. |
