W&M buyout spurs United Spirits

The share price of United Spirits, a division of the UB Group, rose 12.54 per cent to close at Rs 1,007.45 on UB's acquisition of Scottish whisky maker Whyte & Mackay. The stock opened at Rs 915 and made a high of Rs 1,028.50.
 
The transaction will be done through United Spirits. The UB Group dominates India's liquor market and it is the world's third-largest producer of spirits.
