Wall St rallies on market stability plans; ADRs shine

The Wall Street rallied for the second straight day after the US government launched an all out effort to stabilize the shaky stock markets and the financial system. The Dow Jones industrial average surged 369 points to 11,388. The Nasdaq soared 75 points to 2,274.

Among the Indian ADRs - technology firms posted significant gains. Satyam zoomed over 13% to $19.51. Wipro soared over 11% to $11.44, and Infosys surged over 10% to $38.50. Patni Computers gained 4.8% at $8.48.

Among others - ICICI Bank rallied 7.6% to $27.99, and HDFC Bank advanced 6% to $90.70. Sterlite was up 4.8% at $10.11.
