Weak opening, Sensex down 12 pts

The Sensex opened with a small gain of two points over its last close at 6,567. It, however, dipped from higher levels to a low of 6,538 as select heavyweights, tech and other old economy counters came under selling pressure.

While the Sensex is now down 12 points at 6,553, the Nifty is weak at 2,024 - down five points.

Reliance has commenced weak at Rs 528 - down Rs 3.

Infosys has lost a per cent (Rs 20) to Rs 2,137. While Wipro, too, has declined a per cent (Rs 5) to Rs 677, Satyam is flat at Rs 452.

HDFC Bank and ICICI Bank have slipped a per cent each to Rs 541 (down Rs 4) and Rs 397 (down Rs 3), respectively. SBI, too, has resumed in the red at Rs 661 - down Rs 2.

Maruti has logged 1.24% gains (Rs 6) to Rs 464, while Bajaj has added Rs 4 to Rs 1,210. Hero Honda, however, is down a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 565.

Ranbaxy has advanced 1.46% (Rs 15) to Rs 1,017. Other pharma majors, however, are displaying a mixed trend.
