Weak trend continues

The market is still exhibiting weakness owing to sluggish trend in select heavyweights, tech, cement and other old economy counters. Although buying is seen in select counters, the Sensex remains bearish with a loss of 29 points at 6,589. The Nifty is weak at 2,071 - down seven points.

Reliance, on a volume of over 7.46 lakh, is down a per cent (Rs 3) at Rs 533. While HLL is down 1.24% (Rs 2) at Rs 164, ITC, however, is trading with a per cent gain (Rs 8) at Rs 1,349.

Infosys, on a volume of over 5.14 lakh, has shed 1.72% (Rs 36) to Rs 2,045. Wipro, too, is trading at lower levels at Rs 693 - down Rs 10 or 1.41%. Satyam, however, is up a per cent (Rs 4) at Rs 408.

HDFC has scaled down 1.75% (Rs 14) to Rs 802, and Hindalco has slipped a per cent (Rs 13) to Rs 1,376. Reliance Energy has declined 1.46% (Rs 8) to Rs 572.

ACC is trading lower by 1.52% (Rs 6) at Rs 370. While Grasim is weak at Rs 1,349 (down Rs 7), Gujarat Ambuja is trading in the green at Rs 458 - up Rs 2.

SBI is up Rs 3 at Rs 651. Other banking stocks have sneaked into positive zones with marginal gains.

Bharti, is trading with impressive gains in a lacklustre market, and has moved up 2.78% (Rs 6) to Rs 223. The counter has clocked a volume of over 6.48 lakh on the BSE.

Tisco, with a traded volume of over 14.11 lakh, is up 1.62% (Rs 6) at Rs 403.
