Weakness continues, NTPC slumps 5%

The Sensex is now down 328 points at 14,350.

NTPC has slumped 5% to Rs 175. DLF has tumbled over 4% to Rs 488, and Jaiprakash Associates has plunged nearly 4% to Rs 165. Reliance Infrastructure has dropped 3% to Rs 980.

SBI has slipped nearly 5% to Rs 1,375. HDFC Bank has shed 4% at Rs 1,187, and ICICI Bank has dropped 2.7% to Rs 660. HDFC has declined over 2% to Rs 2,259.

BHEL and Reliance Communications have slipped around 3% each to Rs 1,681 and Rs 403, respectively. Grasim has shed 2.8% at Rs 1,972.

ONGC, TCS and Hindustan Unilever are down 2.3% each at Rs 1,012, Rs 821 and Rs 237, respectively.

 

Hindalco and Larsen & Toubro are also down over 2% each to Rs 131 and Rs 2,657, respectively.

Ranbaxy has surged nearly 2% to Rs 515.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,522 stocks traded so far, 1,694 have declined, 760 have advanced and 68 are unchanged.
