Weakness persists, Ranbaxy moves up 2%

The Sensex is now down 307 points at 14,371.

DLF, Jaiprakash Associates and NTPC have plunged around 4.5% each to Rs 487, Rs 164 and Rs 176, respectively.

SBI has tumbled nearly 5% to Rs 1,374. HDFC Bank has shed 4% at Rs 1,188, and ICICI Bank has dropped nearly 3% to Rs 659. HDFC has declined nearly 2% to Rs 2,268.

BHEL has dropped 3.5% to Rs 1,676, and Grasim has slipped 3% to Rs 1,969.

Reliance Infrastrucutre and Reliance Communications have shed 2.8% each at Rs 981 and Rs 403, respectively.

Hindustan Unilever, Larsen & Toubro and TCS are down around 2.5% each at Rs 236, Rs 2,648 and Rs 820, respectively.

 

Ranbaxy has surged nearly 2% to Rs 515.

The market breadth is fairly negative - out of 2,595 stocks traded so far, 1,774 have declined, 762 have advanced and 59 are unchanged.
