Weakness persists; Sensex at day's low

The Sensex has gone deeper into the red, and is now at the day's low of 11,174, down 198 points.

The index today opened flat at 11,371 and touched a high of 11,376. However, it soon slipped into the negative zone.

Sterlite has slumped 5% to Rs 396. Tata Steel, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel and DLF have declined 3% each to Rs 245, Rs 453, Rs 720 and Rs 237, respectively.

Tata Motors has shed over 2.5% at Rs 242.

Tata Power, NTPC, HDFC, Reliance Communications, ONGC, Reliance Infrastructure and Grasim have slipped 2% each.

Wipro, BHEL, ITC, Hindalco, Larsn & Toubro, HDFC, ACC, Hindustan Unilever, SBI and Reliance have dropped 1-2% each.

On the other hand, Jaiprakash Associates and Mahindra & Mahindra have gained 3% each at Rs 134 and Rs 488, respectively. Infosys has advanced 2% to Rs 1,458.
