The Sensex opened with a negative gap of 275 points at 9,371, and soon slipped to a low of 9,282. The index, thereafter, recovered partially and touched a high of 9,396. The Sensex is now down 293 points at 9,353.
Wipro and TCS have slumped around 5% each to Rs 237 and Rs 483, respectively.
Reliance Communications, Tata Steel and Tata Motors have plunged 4.7% each to Rs 228, Rs 208 and Rs 153, respectively.
Mahindra & Mahindra and Sterlite have shed 4.5% each at Rs 273 and Rs 282, respectively.
Jaiprakash Associates, ICICI Bank and ONGC have slipped over 4% each to Rs 79, Rs 389 and Rs 638, respectively.
ACC, Reliance Infrastructure and DLF are down nearly 4% each at Rs 471, Rs 582 and Rs 247, respectively.
