Grains: Non-basmati rice prices moved up in the wholesale grains market during the week under review on emergence of stockists buying influenced by government's decision to allow exports of three varieties grown in the southern states.
However, wheat dara after moving both ways on alternate bouts of trading, settled around previous levels.
Other bold grains like bajra and jowar eased on reduced industrial offtake against adequate stocks.
Traders said government's decision to lift the three-year old ban on exports of three varieties -- Ponni Samba, Rosematta and Soba Masuri -- of the non-basmati rice grown in the four southern states, influenced the trading sentiment.
In the national capital, permal raw, wand and IR-8 varieties attracted stockists attention and settled higher by Rs 25 each to Rs 1,875-1,925, Rs 2,075-2,175 and Rs 1,775-1,800 per quintal, respectively.
On the other hand, bajra declined by Rs 10 to Rs 805-815 per quintal. Jowar yellow and white also lost Rs 20 and Rs 50 to Rs 850-950 and Rs 1,700-1,750 per quintal.
However, maize found selective buying from retailers and improved by Rs 10 to Rs 1,140-1,150 per quintal.
