Snapping its four-week winning streak, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) 30-share sensitive index, Sensex, finished the week ended May 11 at 13,796.16 - a fall of 138.11 points over the last weekend close of 13,934.27. The index moved in a range of 513 points between a high of 14,067.07 and low of 13,554.34. The Sensex had gained 1,078.19 points in the last four weeks. The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) dipped 40.70 points to end the week at 4,076.65 from its previous weekend close of 4,117.35. Besides the metal and bank sectors, which showed gains, most other sectors registered sharp-to-moderate losses on profit-selling. |
