Wheat arrival has started picking up in Punjab, with procurement reaching 83,219 tonne in the state by government agencies and private millers.
However, current lifting was still lower than the corresponding buying of 3,13,000 tonne.
Out of total procurement of 83,219 tonne, government agencies procured 81,081 tonne of wheat, constituting 97 per cent of total lifting while private traders procured just 2,138 tonne.
Wheat arrival in Punjab got delayed due to late ripening of crop caused by extended cold conditions in North India.
FCI has also lifted 7,491 tonne of wheat in the ongoing lifting.
Punjab has made arrangements to lift 110 lakh tonne of crop this season.
