Amid increased supplies in the mandies (spot markets), wheat prices fell by Rs 9 to Rs 1,445 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators reduced positions.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in November was trading Rs 9, or 0.62%, down at Rs 1,445 per quintal, with an open interest of 9,110 lots.

Likewise, the grain for delivery in October was down by Rs 7, or 0.48%, to Rs 1,458 per quintal, with an open interest of 10,630 lots.

Marketmen said the continued slide in wheat prices at futures trade continued as speculators offloaded positions, following persistent rise in supplies in spot markets.
