Wheat futures prices today fell marginally by Rs 3 to Rs 1,199 per quintal as speculators reduced their positions, triggered by rising procurement of grain in the ongoing rabi marketing season.

However, buying by government agencies limited the losses.

At the NCDEX, the June delivery traded Rs 3, or 0.25%, lower at Rs 1,199 per quintal, with an open interest of 15,350 lots.

The May delivery shed Rs 2, or 0.17%, to Rs 1,179 per quintal, with an open interest of 20,670 lots.

Analysts said the fall in wheat prices at futures trade was due to off-loading of positions by speculators as procurement of grain by the government agencies picked up at producing belts but increased purchases by the government agencies restricted the losses.
