Wheat prices fell up to Rs 25 per quintal on the wholesale grains market today on adequate stocks position, following increased arrivals.
However, other grains moved up on pick up in demand against restricted arrivals.
Traders said adequate stocks following increased arrivals against reduced offtake mainly pulled down wheat prices.
Expectations of record production also kept pressure on wheat prices, they said.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell by Rs 25 to Rs 1,290-1,295, while wheat deshi shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,700-1,850 per quintal.
Atta chakki delivery dropped by Rs 40 to Rs 1,280-1,285 per 90 kg and atta flour mills lost Rs 30 to Rs 650-670 per 50 kg. Maida also weakened by Rs 10 to Rs 780-810 per 50 kg.
On the other hand, bajra and maize rose by Rs 40 and Rs 35 to Rs 900-910 and Rs 1,300-1,310 per quintal, respectively. Jowar yellow and white moved up by Rs 50 each to Rs 975-1,075 and Rs 1,825-1,875, while barley strengthened by Rs 20 to Rs 1,350-1,370 per quintal.
