China's stock market is closed for the rest of this week for the annual Dragon Boat Festival, honouring the death of the poet Qu Yuan. The country's 17 trading holidays put it in a three-way tie among the world's 20 biggest equity markets for the number of days when exchanges are idle. Eight of the top 10 are Asian. Don't feel too sorry for workers in European countries that are most parsimonious with so-called no-trading days: They still get more vacation time than the rest of the world
