Why Templeton MF believes investors should stick to diversified funds

Despite a year where small-cap & midcap companies have given higher returns

Investors may be better placed investing in diversified equity funds despite the outperformance of funds which focus on smaller companies, believes Franklin Templeton Asset Management (India).

There has been a convergence between the valuations between mid-cap and large-cap stocks. Investors should allocate the bulk of their equity capital to diversified funds, said Anand Radhakrishnan, CIO- Franklin Equity.

He spoke at a media interaction on Tuesday.

Santosh Kamath,  CIO-Fixed Income said that possible currency depreciation is a risk even as the outlook remains quite  positive. Templeton believes duration strategies should do well in 2015.

President Harshendu Bindal said that the mf industry is expected to grow at 20 per cent over the next five years.
