The optical fibre cable manufacturing in India has about 28 players with most of them listed on exchanges.
However about 77 per cent of the total optical fibre cable market is accounted by the top five companies, the largest being Sterlite Optical Technologies, followed by Sterlite Telecables Ltd., Birla Erricson Optical Ltd., ARM Cables and Vindhya Telelinks.
The other prominent players include Himachal Futuristic Communications Ltd. (HFCL), Aksh Optifibre, Uniflex Cables and Sudarshan Telecom Ltd.
The stocks of these companies have fared poorly on the stock exchanges for past few months on reports in the US based optic fibre manufacturing companies expected a decline in optical fibre cable demand.
