Wipro gains over 6% after Co appoints Thierry Delaporte as new CEO and MD

Delaporte was most recently the chief operating officer of French consulting and technology firm Capgemini Group.

Shares of IT major Wipro ended 6.65 per cent higher at Rs 213 on the BSE on Friday after it announced Thierry Delaporte as the new chief executive officer (CEO) and managing director (MD) of the company, replacing Abidali Neemuchwala. Delaporte was most recently the chief operating officer of French consulting and technology firm Capgemini Group.
 
In comparison, the benchmark S&P BSE Sensex ended at 32,424.10 levels, up 0.7 per cent. Wipro had hit a 52-week high of Rs 301.55 on June 14, 2019, whereas its 52-week low level stands at Rs 159.60, hit on March 19 this year.
