Wipro gains on selection by US-based water company as IT partner

The stock is up 2.5% at Rs 651 on the National Stock Exchange

Shares of Wipro were trading higher by 2.5% at Rs 651 on the National Stock Exchange (NSE) after the company announced that it has been selected by the United States-based utility company, Greater Cincinnati Water Works (GCWW) as its information technology partner to transform the utility's CRM, Billing and Service Bureau operations.

Greater Cincinnati Water Works provides about 133 million gallons of water a day to over 1 million people across the states of Ohio and Kentucky in the United States, Wipro, a leading global information technology, consulting and business process services company, said in a press release.

Wipro will design, build, host and deploy a Customer Information System (CIS) for Greater Cincinnati Water Works in a Platform as a Service (PaaS) model. The company will also maintain the solution for Greater Cincinnati Water Works for a period of five years after the initial implementation.

The stock opened at Rs 638 and touched a high of Rs 654 on the NSE.  Till 1258 hours, a combined 1.20 million shares changed hands on the counter on the NSE and BSE.
