Wkly Review: Sensex soars 18% in 7 weeks

The Sensex posted its seventh straight weekly gain this week. The index which is nearing the 12,000 mark exhibited solid strenght as it coutered persistent selling pressure throughout the week.

The index moved in a narrow range of 168 points, a high of 11,983 and a low of 11,815. The Sensex finally settled with a gain of 140 points at 11,919.

The Sensex has a gained a whopping 18% (1,833 points) in the last seven weeks.

INDEX OUTPERFORMERS

HMT zoomed over 33% to Rs 85.50, and Exide Industries rallied 30% to Rs 45.30.

Lok Housing and Unitech advanced 25% each to Rs 275 and Rs 239, respectively.

TVS Motors, Hotel Leela, ITI, Financial Technologies, Jet Airways, Hindustan Zinc, Deccan Aviation, Gammon India and Mangalam were the other outperformers.
