Zinc down 0.1% on low spot demand

Zinc for delivery in September traded lower by 0.09%

Amid subdued domestic demand and weak global trend, zinc prices fell by 0.13% to Rs 111.70 per kg in futures trade today as speculators reduced their positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in August declined by 15 paise, or 0.13%, to Rs 111.70 per kg in business turnover of 550 lots.

Likewise, zinc for delivery in September traded lower by 10 paise, or 0.09%, to Rs 112.75 per kg in 35 lots.

Market analysts said besides sluggish domestic demand in domestic spot market, weak global trend on concerns that global supply will exceed demand and economic growth slows in China, the world's second-biggest consumer, attributed fall in zinc futures here.
