Zinc prices fell by Rs 0.35, or 0.43 per cent to Rs 81.65 per kg today in futures trade, as speculators offloaded their positions, triggered by subdued demand at domestic markets.

However, overnight strength in zinc at the London Metal Exchange, capped losses in futures trade here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for June contract drifted by Rs 0.35, or 0.43 per cent to Rs 81.65 per kg, with an open interest of 7,149 lots.

The metal for delivery in July contract also shed Rs 0.30 or 0.42 per cent, to Rs 82.85 per kg, with an open interest of 807 lots.

Analysts said weak trend at spot markets, owing to subdued demand led to a fall in zinc futures prices.
