Zinc down 0.9% amid subdued demand

Metal for delivery in January fell by 0.86%

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures prices today fell by 0.90% to Rs 131.85 per kg after participants reduced their positions due to absence of global cues amid subdued demand at domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in December traded lower by Rs 1.20, or 0.90%, to Rs 131.85 per kg, with a business turnover of 764 lots.

The metal for delivery in January fell by Rs 1.15, or 0.86%, to trade at Rs 132.30 per kg in a turnover of 109 lots.

Marketmen said reducing of positions by participants in the absence of overseas cues, as the London Metal Exchange remained closed today for Christmas holiday and low demand from domestic industries, put pressure on zinc futures prices here.
