Tracking weak trend at the London Metal Exchange, zinc prices fell by over one% to Rs 101.10 per kg in futures trade today.

Weak trend at the spot markets owing to subdued demand also put pressure on zinc prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, September zinc declined by Rs 1.05 paise, or 1.03%, to Rs 101.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 695 lots.

The October contract was down 0.97%, to Rs 102.15 per kg in 58 lots.

At the London Metal Exchange, zinc shed 1.3% to $2,130 per tonne in early trade today.

Market analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a weakening trend on the London Metal Exchange as Europe's debt crisis persisted, intensifying concern that the global economy is set to slow, besides subdued demand in the spot market.
