Zinc down by 0.4% on global cues

Participants reduced their positions, taking weak cues from the global markets amid subdued demand

Press Trust of India New Delhi
Zinc futures prices today fell 0.38% to Rs 116.80 per kg as participants reduced their positions, taking weak cues from the global markets amid subdued demand at domestic spot markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in November traded lower by 45 paise, or 0.38%, to Rs 116.80 per kg, with a business turnover of 194 lots.

The metal for delivery in December fell by 40 paise, or 0.34%, to trade at Rs 118.35 per kg in a turnover of 23 lots.

Marketmen said the fall in zinc prices at futures trade was mostly in line with a weak trend overseas where copper and other base metals declined amid concern that the US Federal Reserve may start tapering stimulus in coming months, reducing the demand prospect for the metal.
