Zinc prices edged up by 0.32% to Rs 108.25 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders, supported by a firm trend in global markets.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for April contract increased by 35 paise, or 0.32% to Rs 108.25 per kg in a business turnover of eight lots.

Similarly, the metal for May contract traded higher by 30 paise, or 0.27% to Rs 109.45 per kg in 16 lots.

Market analysts said that fresh buying by traders and reports of a firm trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly led to the rise in zinc futures prices.

Meanwhile, zinc climbed 0.7% to $2,434 a tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
