Taking weak cues from global market, zinc prices edged lower by 0.73% in futures trade today.

Weak demand from consuming industries at the spot markets also put some pressure on the prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June fell by 75 paise, or 0.73% to Rs 101.30 per kg, with a business turnover of 2,362 lots.

The metal for delivery in July also fell by the same margin to Rs 102.55 per kg, with a trade turnover of 139 lots.

Analysts said a weakening trend in the base metals at the London Metal Exchange and sluggish demand at the domestic spot markets led to the fall in zinc futures prices.
