Zinc prices drifted by Rs 0.95 or 0.99 per cent to Rs 95.30 per kg today in futures trade, as traders booked profits driven by a weak trend on the global markets.

Subdued demand at the physical markets also put pressure on the metal prices at futures trade here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for May contract shed Rs 0.95, or 0.99 per cent to Rs 95.30 per kg, clocking a turnover of 989 lots. The metal for delivery in June contract also fell by Rs 0.85, or 0.88 per cent at Rs 96.05 per kg, in a business turnover of 78 lots.

Market analysts said, besides profit booking by speculators and a weakening trend in base metals pack in global markets put pressure on the zinc prices at futures market here.

Meanwhile, at Shanghai, the metal traded 120 yuan or 0.71 per cent lower at 16,810 yuan per tonne, while at the London Metal Exchange, it fell $30, or 1.39 per cent at $2,130 per tonne.
