Taking cues from global markets, zinc prices fell by Re one, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 82 per kg, in futures trade today. Sluggish demand at domestic markets also weighed on the zinc futures prices.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, zinc for July contract fell by Re one, or 1.20 per cent, to Rs 83 per kg, with a turnover of 457 lots. The metal for delivery in August contract moved down by Re one, or 1.19 per cent, to Rs 83.20 per kg, with a business volume of 14 lots.

Market analysts said weakness in base metals pack overseas and sluggish domestic demand mainly led to a fall in zinc prices at futures trade.

Meanwhile, zinc traded 1.06 per cent, lower at $1,771 a metric tonne, at the London Metal Exchange.
