Zinc futures higher on better global trend

Zinc prices rose by Rs 1.10, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 81.40 per kg, in futures market on fresh buying by traders and rise in demand at spot markets amid firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for June contract rose by Rs 1.10, or 1.37 per cent, to Rs 81.40 per kg, with an open interest of 9,710 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contract traded higher by Rs 0.95, or 1.16 per cent, to Rs 82.55 per kg, with a business volume of 2,046 lots.

Analysts said fresh buying by traders on pick up in demand for the metal from the consuming industries at domestic markets and reports of a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange mainly pushed up zinc prices in futures trade here.

 

Meanwhile, zinc advanced 1.3 per cent to $1,798 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
