Zinc futures traded Rs 0.40 or 0.45 per cent higher at Rs 89.50 per kg supported by good demand at spot markets but weak trend at Shanghai, restricted gains.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for delivery in June contract rose Rs 0.40, or 0.45 per cent to Rs 89.50 per kg, with a turnover of 245 lots.
The metal for delivery in July contract also edged up by Rs 0.35, or 0.39 per cent to Rs 90.40 per kg, with a business turnover of 11 lots.
Analysts said pick up in demand for the metal from the consuming industries at domestic markets pushed up zinc prices in futures trade here.
Meanwhile, zinc fell by 60 yuan to 15,915 yuan per tonne at Shanghai.
