Zinc futures marginally up on firm global cues

Tracking a firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and spot demand, zinc futures prices today traded 0.25%% higher at Rs 96.75 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, November zinc gained 25 paise, or 0.25% to Rs 96.75 per kg, with a turnover of 497 lots.

The December delivery also edged higher by 20 paise, or 0.20% to Rs 97.70 per kg, with a business turnover of 23 lots.

At the LME, zinc gained as much as 0.2% to $1,956 per tonne.

Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a firm trend in the entire base metals pack at the LME.

In addition, pick-up in demand at domestic spot markets also supported the upside in metal prices at futures trade here.
