Zinc futures rise on firm global cues

Zinc prices rose by Rs 1.35 to Rs 87.65 per kg in futures market today on good demand at spot markets supported by a firming trend in its' prices at London Metal Exchange.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for delivery in far-month August gained Rs 1.35, or 1.56 per cent to Rs 87.65 per kg with an open interest of 104 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in current month June contract edged up by Rs 1.10, or 1.30 per cent to Rs 85.60 per kg in 6626 lots.

Analysts said pick up in demand for the metal from the consuming industries at domestic markets and its' firming price trend at London Metal Exchange mainly led to rise in zinc prices in futures trade here.

 

Meanwhile, zinc added 1.4 per cent to $1,865 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
