Zinc prices traded lower by 0.71 per cent to Rs 104.25 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced their positions in tandem with a weak trend overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March declined by 75 paise, or 0.71 per cent, to Rs 104.25 per kg, with a business volume of 10 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in April shed 70 paise, or 0.66 per cent, to Rs 105.55 per kg, with an open interest of six lots.

Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to reducing of positions by speculators on the back of a weakening trend at the London Metal Exchange.

Meanwhile, zinc shed 0.5 per cent to $2,313 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
