Zinc futures turn weak on global cues

Zinc prices fell by Re 1, or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 84.15 per kg in futures market today on sluggish demand at domestic spot markets amid weak trend overseas. 

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for June contract fell by Re one , or 1.12 per cent, to Rs 84.15 per kg, with a turnover of 525 lots.

The metal for delivery in current-month June contract also moved down by Rs 0.90, or 1.04 per cent, to Rs 85.55 per kg, with a business volume of 255 lots.

Market analysts said weakness in base metals pack overseas and sluggish domestic demand mainly led to a fall in zinc prices at futures trade.

 

Meanwhile, zinc traded 1.17 per cent lower at $1,858 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
