Tracking a firm trend overseas and pick up in domestic market demand, zinc futures prices today traded 0.62 per cent higher at Rs 105.55 per kg.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc delivery for February gained 65 paise, or 0.62 per cent to Rs 105.55 per kg in a turnover of 1 lot.

The metal for delivery in January also edged higher by 40 paise, or 0.10 per cent to Rs 104.50 per kg, with a business turnover of 2 lots.

Analysts attributed the rise in zinc futures prices to a firm trend in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange on speculations that global demand may pick up and a firm trend at the domestic spot market.
