Zinc prices edged up by 1.36% to Rs 108.05 per kg in futures trade today after speculators created fresh positions, tracking gains in copper and other base metals overseas.

Pick-up in the domestic spot demand too influenced the zinc futures prices here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for September delivery traded higher by Rs 1.45, or 1.36%, to Rs 106.60 per kg, with a business turnover of five lots.

In similar manners, the metal for July delivery rose by 60 paise, or 0.57%, to Rs 105.95 per kg, with a business volume of 11,52 lots.

Market analysts said a firm trend in the base metals at the London Metal Exchange (LME) and pick-up in domestic demand at spot markets, mainly influenced zinc futures prices here.
