Zinc futures up 1.47% on better global trend

Zinc prices improved by Rs 1.20, or 1.47 per cent, to Rs 82.80 per kg in futures trade today on fresh buying by traders in tandem with a firming trend at the London Metal Exchange.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for June contract gained Rs 1.20, or 1.47 per cent to Rs 82.80 per kg, with an open interest of 8,453 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in July contract traded higher by Rs 1.10, or 1.33 per cent, to Rs 83.90 per kg, with a business volume of 2,049 lots.

Market analysts said fresh buying by traders on increased demand from the consuming industries amid better trend at the London Metal Exchange led to a rise in zinc prices at futures market here.

 

Meanwhile, zinc advanced 1.3 per cent to $1,818 a metric tonne on the London Metal Exchange.
