Buoyed by firming trend at global and domestic markets, zinc futures prices edged up by Rs 1.40, or 1.61 per cent, to Rs 88.10 per kg today.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, zinc for delivery in September contract traded Rs 1.40, or 1.61 per cent, higher at Rs 88.10 per kg, with a turnover of 105 lots.
The metal for delivery in July contract also gained Rs 1.10, or 1.29 per cent, to Rs 86.10 per kg, with a turnover of 6,982 lots.
Besides, firming trend overseas, strong demand at the domestic markets also supported the upside in zinc prices in futures trade here.
Meanwhile, zinc rose 2.1 per cent to $1,846.50 a tonne at the London Metal Exchange.
