Zinc futures traded 0.45 per cent higher to Rs 99.20 per kg per kg, in tandem with firming trend in base metals at overseas markets and weak dollar raised appeal for the raw material as an alternative investment.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange platform, zinc for delivery in October contract traded 45 paisa, or 0.45 per cent higher, to Rs 99.20 per kg, with a turnover of 97 lots.

Similarly, the metal for delivery in September contract also edged higher by 40 paisa, or 0.40 per cent, to Rs 98 per kg, with a turnover of 740 lots.

Analysts said firming trend in base metals in global markets as weakening dollar boosted appeal for the commodities as an alternative investment option, influenced the zinc futures prices here.
