Zinc prices edged up by 0.67% to Rs 98 per kg in futures trade, taking positive cues from overseas markets.

At the Multi-Commodity Exchange, the February contract traded higher by 65 paise, or 0.67%, to Rs 98 per kg, with a business turnover of 1,358 lots.

The March contract inched up by 60 paise, or 0.61%, to Rs 99.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 129 lots.

Analysts said gains in the entire base metals pack at the London Metal Exchange (LME) after euro zone finance ministers sealed a deal for a massive new bailout of Greece, influenced the trading sentiment here.

Meanwhile, zinc rose 1.3% to $2,008 per tonne at the LME.
