Zinc futures prices today rose by Rs 0.90, or 0.91 per cent, to Rs 99.30 per kg after tracking firming trend overseas.

Firming trend at the physical markets on the back of strong demand from consuming industries also influenced the zinc futures market here.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange counter, the zinc contract for August-delivery traded Rs 0.90, or 0.91 per cent higher, at Rs 99.30 per kg, with a turnover of 5,102 lots.

The September contract also gained Rs 0.85, or 0.85 per cent, to Rs 100.30 per kg, with a turnover of 887 lots.

Marketmen said overnight gains at the London Metal Exchange and firming trend at the spot market here mainly attributed to the gains in zinc prices at futures market.
