Press Trust of India New Delhi

Zinc futures prices fell by 65 paise, or 0.65%, to Rs 98.95 per kg today, largely in tandem with a weakening trend in base metals overseas.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in February shed 65 paise, or 0.65%, to Rs 98.95 per kg, with a trade turnover of 348 lots.

March zinc traded 60 paise, or 0.60% lower, at Rs 100.20 per kg in a turnover of 29 lots.

At the London Metal Exchange, zinc declined 0.6% to $2,000 per tonne in early trade today.

Analysts attributed the fall in zinc futures prices to a weak trend in base metals overseas after a decision on a second bailout for Greece was postponed, dampening sentiment.
