Zinc up 0.2% on spot demand, overseas cues

Zinc for delivery in July gained 0.28% to trade with a business turnover of 21 lots.

Zinc futures prices today edged up by 0.28% to Rs 107.40 per kg after speculators enlarged positions amid a firming trend overseas and rising demand in spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in June edged up by 30 paise, or 0.28%, to Rs 106.10 per kg with a business turnover of 606 lots.

Zinc for delivery in July gained 30 paise, or 0.28%, to trade at Rs 107.40 per kg with a business turnover of 21 lots.

Marketmen said besides improved demand in the spot market, firming trend in base metals at the London Metal Exchange after better-than-expected US retail sales and jobs data boosted the outlook for demand mainly supported the upside in zinc futures prices.
