Taking positive cues from the global markets and rising domestic demand, zinc prices rose 0.28% to Rs 108.40 per kg in futures trade today.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in September edged up by 30 paise, or 0.28%, to Rs 108.40 per kg, with business turnover of 1,388 lots.

October zinc traded marginally higher by 25 paise, or 0.23%, to Rs 109.05 per kg, with business turnover of 83 lots.

Marketmen said the rise in zinc prices at futures trade was due to a firming trend overseas on hopes that China and the US will roll out more stimulus programmes to boost their economies, raising the demand for industrial metals, influencing zinc futures prices here.

Meanwhile, at the London Metal Exchange, zinc traded 0.16% higher at $1,973 per tonne in early trade today.
