Zinc up 0.5% on overseas cues, spot demand

Improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend helped prices

Zinc futures edged up by 0.55% to Rs 118.20 per kg amid a firm global trend and better domestic demand as speculators enlarged positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in March edged up by 65 paise, or 0.55%, to Rs 118.20 per kg, with a business turnover of 313 lots.

The metal for delivery in April also rose by 55 paise, or 0.46%, to Rs 119.10 per kg, with a business turnover of 27 lots.

Marketmen said improved demand in the spot market amid a firming trend in select base metals overseas, supported the rise in metal prices at futures trade.
